CSH Platform in Tiggo 9: A Combination of Performance and Efficiency That’s Hard to Beat
At the IIMS 2025 event last May, Chery introduced its latest technology focusing on efficiency and eco-friendliness through the Tiggo 8 CSH. Zeng Shuo, Country Director of Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI), presented the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) platform as the first milestone of their innovation in the hybrid market.
According to Zeng Shuo, this introduction is the first step toward the launch of three models equipped with CSH technology throughout 2025, starting with the Tiggo 8 CSH and followed by the latest model that will officially launch at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025 at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, at the end of July. Indonesia will also be the first right-hand-drive country to receive direct introduction to CSH technology, ahead of other countries such as Malaysia, Australia, and South Africa.
Before visiting Chery’s booth at GIIAS 2025, let’s take a deeper look at Chery Super Hybrid technology, how it works, the comparison of the CSH platform in Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9, and its advantages over conventional hybrid platforms.
What is the CSH Platform?
Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) is the latest hybrid technology that combines the advantages of an internal combustion engine (ICE) and an electric motor to deliver high fuel efficiency, strong performance, and long driving range. This technology is not only an alternative to pure electric vehicles but also a solution to common concerns such as limited charging infrastructure and range anxiety.
The CSH platform is built on three main components: the Dedicated Hybrid Engine (DHE), Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), and Dedicated Hybrid Battery (DHB). This combination results in mechanical efficiency of up to 98.5% and enables intelligent transitions between full-electric and hybrid modes depending on the driver’s needs.
Not only efficient, Chery also pays attention to comfort. The Dual Hydraulic Mount technology helps reduce vibration by up to 30%, while the Double Mass Flywheel (DMF) absorbs excess torque and engine noise, creating a smoother and more stable driving experience.
The ACTECO hybrid engine integrated into the system achieves thermal efficiency of up to 44.5% and is paired with a large 18.3 kWh battery, allowing the vehicle to travel 90–100 km using only electric power. This enables CSH to deliver EV-like flexibility for daily commuting while maintaining long-distance capability with the support of the ICE. With the philosophy “The Best Hybrid, Better than EV”, CSH offers the ideal solution for modern consumers seeking a fuel-efficient, powerful, and comfortable vehicle for exploration.
Core Components and How CSH Works
The CSH platform in the Tiggo 9 relies on three main components: a high-efficiency 1.5L turbo gasoline engine, a powerful electric motor, and a smart 3DHT transmission. Compared to the Tiggo 8 CSH, which still uses 1DHT, this upgrade delivers faster acceleration response (around 5.4 seconds) and more optimal power efficiency.
The system works dynamically: the electric motor drives the vehicle at low speeds, then combines with the gasoline engine when additional power is needed, and operates efficiently at cruising speeds to save fuel consumption. All transitions occur seamlessly thanks to intelligent synchronization between systems, including regenerative braking that converts energy during deceleration into electrical power.
In addition, the Tiggo 9 CSH is already equipped with the latest ADAS technologies such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) to provide comprehensive driving safety.
Performance and Efficiency Comparison of CSH Platform in Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9
With improvements in the CSH platform technology that affect transmission performance, there are several differences between the Chery Tiggo 8 CSH and Tiggo 9 CSH. We’ve summarized some key points in the table below:

While the Tiggo 8 CSH offers superior fuel efficiency in certain modes, the Tiggo 9 CSH brings advantages in performance, acceleration, and AWD flexibility, making it more adaptive to various road conditions, including challenging terrains.
Advantages of the CSH Platform Over Conventional Hybrid Technology
Compared to conventional hybrid systems, CSH stands out because it’s not just about adding electrification components to a conventional gasoline engine platform, but is purpose-built with integrated electrification systems from the design stage. Some key advantages of the CSH platform include:
- Seamless automatic transitions between EV and hybrid modes.
- Efficiency in stop-and-go traffic conditions.
- Balanced efficiency and performance of the electric motor and gasoline engine, resulting in better fuel economy.
- More efficient energy recovery through regenerative braking during deceleration or braking.
- Large battery capacity without sacrificing cabin space.
With this combination of advantages, CSH offers a modern hybrid solution that surpasses conventional hybrid systems in terms of technology, energy efficiency, and driving comfort.
The arrival of Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology is not just about providing an eco-friendly driving experience, but also about delivering the ideal balance between fuel efficiency and powerful high performance. From smooth mode transitions, interior comfort, to impressive driving range, CSH in the Chery Tiggo 9 is designed to meet today’s mobility needs. Look forward to its official launch at GIIAS 2025 at ICE BSD City, July 24–August 3, and experience it firsthand through upcoming test drive sessions.
